FELDSPAR

Feldspar is an aluminosilicate mineral and is classified into three groups according to the element in its composition: potassium, sodium and calcium feldspar. It is widely produced in West Anatolia in Milas, Yatagan, Karpuzlu and Simav. Feldspar is used in ceramic, glass, paint and welding electrodes sectors.

USAGE AREAS

Glass

Feldspar is an essential raw material for production of glass. It is used in glass production because of its alumina content. Alkalis in the feldspar act as flaks to reduce the melting temperature while alumina provides sensitivity and gives strength to the glass.

Ceramics

Feldspar is one of the most essential compound in the production of ceramics. It is used as fluxing catalyst to obtain a glassy coating at low temperatures. Also, Feldspar provides toughness, durability and strength to the ceramic products.

Welding

Feldspar is used for coating of welding electrodes because of it’s fluxing features. It stabilizes arc and protect welding pit.
